Kanban is the Japanese word for card. It has been developed into a manufacturing technique by the Japanese, where card signals pull materials to work centers, according to requirements. When a parts bin on the shop floor gets empty, card signals begin the replenishment of empty bins. The kanban system pulls materials from suppliers and work centers, to locations in the manufacturing process that need them
